Banff and the Front Ranges

The climb up from Banff takes you past breathtaking scenery, like the front ranges of the Rockies. I glimpsed this view through the car window but it stayed with me throughout the adventure and I painted this on my return to the studio.
The mountains are an ominous grey cutting into the sky...

acrylic 2004. Timmy Mallett

On the other side of the front ranges is the glorious town of Banff with its famous Hotel in the distance.
The Bow River breaks into tributaries and cascades over waterfalls to form this stunning valley.
A great place to picnic near the hoodoos!
