Quintette Tunnels on the Kettle Valley Railway
One of the great engineering feats of Canada. The building of the kettle Valley railway in the early years of the 20th Century led to this series of 5 tunnels carved out of the rock alongside this spectacular canyon.
It was a gentle cycle up here past the huge fern covered forest, to these amazing bridges and tunnels. Down below us salmon were leaping up the cascading waterfall!
I enjoyed painting this tall thin picture. It seems to accentuate the steepness of the cliffs and tremendous achievement of the engineers who built it.
The tunnels at Hope are a famous tourist attraction for Rocky film fans - Stallone shot his first Rocky movie here.
