Charles is a retired electronics engineer who has lived in Cookham for 26 years - at least 20 up in the Dean.
He loves being involved in things and organising stuff. Charles is one of the original shareholders of the Jolly Farmer which was bought by and for Cookham Dean village in 1988; he's in the Cookham Dean Village Club which runs the annual fete in September, and Charles' love of jazz prompted him to organise the bi-annual jazz festival.
Charles is the voice of the Cookham Regatta each year, and he helps sort out the entertainment at Elizabeth House as well as fund raise with the Cookham Bridge Rotary club.
But Charles is best known as one of the 8 Cookham jazz nuts who make up the Fabulous Shirtlifters.
They play around a dozen gigs a year (in 2000 they were invited to play at the Millennium Dome). If the name sounds odd - it is! They like it as a talking point.
Away from his piano you'll find Charles making and flying his own model aircraft.
