CLIVE WOODWARD

Clive has lived in Cookham since 1989 and loves it here, especially sitting out in the garden enjoying Radio 4 and the sounds of the village.

It's a far cry from the pressures of coaching/managing the England rugby team, a job he's held since 1997. Before that Clive was an amateur player for Leicester and England but is really enjoying the new professionalism of rugby union.

I painted this portrait the day after a young England side took on the Barbarians, an invitation team of the World's best players, and beat them!

The next game is Argentina the day after the England football team play them in the World cup! Which hopefully leaves enough time for for Clive to play his other game - golf (handicap 6).

With his wife Jayne and three children who went through or are at Ridgeway school, Clive's favourite thing about Cookham is being able to walk everywhere. "To be able to walk to the pubs and restaurants, to the river, or the shops is a real luxury, and it's a luxury I adore."
