Malik was born in Bangladesh and grew up in Bradford where he got his first taste of restaurants helping his father. He's been in Cookham for 10 years living on the High Street at Fernlea while being front of house at the Cookham Tandoori.
At the beginning of 1999 an opportunity to take over the Italian restaurant at the old Royal Exchange led to Malik's bangladeshi restaurant employing 14 staff.
Since then, Cookham's reputation for great Indian eating places has led to an influx of two more restaurants opening at the Tavern and on the Parade. Malik's currently searching for a home in Cookham to bring his wife Jasmine and 2 young daughters from Surrey to live here.
"I love my work, and I enjoy meeting the people around here." Malik loves playing cricket and football and after work he and his staff occasionally play badminton outside in the car park! "We've been challenged by customers many times but with all our practice nobody has beaten us yet!"
But his real passion is fishing. "I love being able to walk right outside my door to the Thames to fish for pike. There's real excitement when you feel a fish on the line!"
