Rhonda is named after a character in a Mills and Boon book, because her Estonian mum thought it was a typically English name!
Rhonda and Sam have lived at the Cookham Dean Post Office and Stores since 1987 and came here from Wycombe because they wanted a shop where they could both work together. Before that they were selling specialist teas and coffees in Beaconsfield.
The biggest difference in Cookham Dean is that all the houses are now bigger. "As soon as anyone buys in the Dean they extend!" In the shop they've noticed a difference too - now the demand is for bottled water, pasta, sauces and ready made meals - out has gone the Izal toilet paper and fairy soap bars!
Rhonda and Sam's store is the heartbeat of Cookham Dean. Between them they are open for 12 hours a day til 7.30pm for six days a week and til lunchtime on Sundays.
But even at £7.50ph they can't get any paper boys. "Probably the lack of pavements around the Dean".
Outside of work Rhonda loves her patchwork and embroidery; and of course the Village Club who for their 25th wedding anniversary kindly clubbed together to buy them a holiday to Estonia!
