Lorraine the tin hat maker
What do you do with your old beer cans? Lorraine at Calliope camp site makes wonderful tin hats out of them which she sells at Rockhampton market for $20 a go. They are fascinating and intricate. It involves cutting the beer can into a template, piercing the edge with a hot punch, stringing 40 ring pulls a hat and adding felt to the inside so protect delicate heads. Surely its the ultimate in recyling! I keep mine proudly in the kitchen at home!
