From the Piazza Michelangelo you get the best view of Florence with the spectacular Duomo and Brunellesci's dome. I love the fact that centuries after it's construction nobody knows how he managed to design and build something so graceful and so huge!
The castle nearby has seen some brutal episodes in Florence's history. In fact the whole history of Florence, the Medicis and the constant competition for power in the city states is a testament to the drama of argument and how it seems to bring out the best artistic flourishing.
