Loches, Loire Valley
Hitchhiking in France some years ago the car came sweeping round a corner and called out to the driver to stop...."what's wrong?" "Nothing. But what a picture!"
If ever there was a photo opportunity, the castle at Loches in the Loire Valley was it.
It was late afternoon with a golden sun and I stayed in the town overnight and painted and drew it all. Back home in the studio I painted this french classical landcsape with peasants and fields of ripening corn based on my experiences of Loches.
I've been back a number of times since and it never fails to inspire me.
The castle at loches is where the Dauphin of Joan of Arc fame was imprisoned.
