Rainy Paris

I've painted this view any number of times. At the top of the funicular to the Sacre Coeur is a little public garden where you can enjoy an ice cream and the glimpsed view of the Eiffel Tower away across the city. But on the last two times it's rained! You can see the weather roll in across the city...
I feel that this view is almost like a set for a movie or a play. The Eiffel tower, the solitary street lamp, rooftops and chimney pots of the city.
Marceau Botzaris is the name I use for many of my Parisian paintings. It's a combination of two stations on the metro - Alma Marceau and Botzaris. I painted this when I took the Australian family on their first trip to France.
